The ACRE Project and Kildare County Council Arts Service welcome applications to the Artist in Residence programme, based in The ACRE Project, Celbridge, County Kildare. Applications are invited from professional artists and/or collectives or companies practicing in any art form for a 30-week residency, commencing Autumn 2024. The Artist in Residence Bursary Award will support and resource an artist to develop their professional practice and/or develop a specific artistic project, alongside a programme of public-facing workshops to engage communities from the local area. It is envisaged that the successful candidate’s professional practice will complement the public engagement element of this residency, and vice versa.
Now in its 3rd cycle, previous recipients of the award were Ailish Claffey and Embrace Music (Sadhbh O’Sullivan and Sharon Murphy).
The ACRE Project Artist in Residence Bursary Award will provide an artist with:
· An Artist in Residence Bursary award (€15,000) to include expenses.
· Access to office facilities and workshop space one day a week at the ACRE Project (Fridays).
· 30-week residency in the ACRE Project’s creative space (October 2024 – June 2025).
We welcome applications from individual artists and/or collectives or companies practicing in any artform who represent the diversity of Irish society. We encourage applications from all areas of the community including applications from artists whose first language is not English.
The specific residency start/end dates will be agreed between all parties, within the general timeline outlined above. The contact hours for the public-facing workshops will be agreed, but it is expected that there will be regular engagement throughout the residency. As part of the application process, artists are asked to identify communities with which they would like to engage. The ACRE Project will provide the Artist in Residence with support to access communities to deliver a public-facing workshop programme.
The residency is supported by Kildare County Council Arts Service, as part of its Arts, Health and Wellbeing programme, with grant aid from the Arts Council of Ireland.
This residency provides 30 weeks (1 day/week) access to facilities and the creative space at The ACRE Project, Celbridge, County Kildare.
